When I am cruising I hear a high pitched humm coming from what sounds like the drive shaft area. I don't hear it when I let off the gas but when I cruise at a steady speed I hear it. Any ideas what it might be.

Are you feeling any vibration? Check for play in the U joints etc.

I checked the u-joints and they seem good to go. There is no vibration at any time when I drive. Any other suggestions to check??

Pinion bearing? Won't take but just a little time to check all this out.

As Zdid said, pinion bearing. Or carrier bearing, or gear noise.

check your fluid in you rear, make sure its not low, not likely the cause, but won't hurt to look.
