Asked if the Camaro would be built in right-hand drive and sold in Australia, Lutz said it was "not in the official program".
"But the Australians are doing that car - if it goes ahead - so I think the right-hand-drive version will eventually just sort of happen".

I'm naturally very happy about it.. (selfishly)
..but as a purist I think it's best as a USA made car.

Not that much of a stretch. The 4th Gen was made in Canada.

The Monaro is a Muscle Car legend in its own right. I had a 69 HT and my 69 camaro at the same time a few yrs back. The Monaro was a better built car. Thu the Camaro deffinatly far more a drivers car in spite of its crappy seats.
So many parts are interchangable, in particular the later HQ series.
The HT (both basically same 350 s) would eat the camaro due to diff cam and dizzy curves.
Yeah I would like to see Aussie Holden get hold of the Camaro and release in its lineup of models.
Long live the Monaro.

God forbid that GM actually make an American car in America.

So GM cancels the GTO and needs to keep Aussie GM building something.....

might even be the same engine. The supply lines would barely slow down.

Smart move - why re-engineer a platform?
