Hi All...setup is a 350 ZZ4, 700r4, 3:08 10 bolt.

Going to the foolowing cam.

222/228 @50 Lift 510/502
106 LDA 102 centerline.

should make its power from 1800-6200 rpm.

I currently have a stock converter (1400) I think. Will the stock converter handle this setup?

Thanks
Chris

It's probably OK with duration but you've narrowed the lobe centers qite a bit which will make it have poor vacuum and bottom end. Might want to consider an aftermarket in the 2200-2600 RPM range.

I agree. It will work....but not it wont be optimum. And actually, it wouldnt hurt to get some gear in there. Thats another thing that will work....but aint quite optimum. Get some 3.55-3.73's(no big deal with the OD tranny) and a converter that stalls 2500ish and itll feel like your drivin a different car. When you buy a converter, please remember to call and ask first. Advertised stall speed numbers in the magazines and such are just really educated guesses for the average application. To get it right though, you really need to ask. Tons of variables will effect how the converter stalls(vehicle weight, torque, drivetrain specs....). One quick example....back in the day it was the hot ticket to yank the converters out of the 4 cylinder vega and stuff it behind a small block for a cheap high stallin converter. Behind the 4 cylinder, it didnt do much, but put it behind a strong 350 or bigger and your lookin at 3000 plus revs out of that converter(all the torque that the 4 cylinder didnt have makes this possible)! Granted its a sloppy converter. Ive driven a fair share and still got a 75 vega..and no, it aint a performance converter, but it worked a little for a cheap upgrade. And a good aftermaret/performance type converter will still act the same way. They just do a better job at it.

Get a brand name, the dynamic balance will be alot better than most cheaper ones.

People used to swap out Vega convertors for more stall.
