HELP !!!! My (ok, the wife's) RS sprung a leak !!! rear axle seal. I have built close to 40 motors, but never touched a rearend.
My chiltons is TOO vague.
Here's what I am working with... 12 Posi... wheels off, drums off, cover off, pinion shaft lock bolt removed.. NOW I am STUCK !!!!! I do not see the "C" clips I am supposed to remove. ??????
Any details, blown up diagrams, or step by step walk thru would be greatly appreciated... Yes, and a swift kick in the A**.... This SHOULD be a simple process.

Remove the cross shaft from the posi. Push in on the axle and you will see the c clip on the end of it. Remove the c clip and pull the axle out.

no, you can just replace the seal.
be sure you use brake clean on the shoes,hardware,and drums to get all the gear oil off.
