I now understand why a rebuilt CS-130 alternator costs $100.00
I bought a $30 rebuild kit for the alt in my S-10 thinking I was doing the smart thing. Half way through the rebuild I wished I hadn't started it. What ever happened to good old screws and nuts. I'm old school and crimping and soldering was never part of a rebuild. I have a backround in electronics and couldn't imagine "Joe Shadetree" trying to do this. With the trips from the garage to the house and back for more tools it took close to five hours to complete.
Cost of rebuild kit $30.00
Satisfaction of doing the job yourself, priceless.
Baloney!
