So how is everybody doing? What have I missed lately? I have been gone for 10 weeks now, hopefully getting close to half way through my deployment. I just got an UNCLASS computer next to me at work and I had to see what is going on. I saw the black out panel is now being sold on the net. Cool. Carl, did you ever get the template that I sent? I packaged it up the last day I was home and had my wife mail it after I left. I hope it is still making the rounds. Let's see where was I...oh yeah, I was grappling with getting the alignment between my column shifter and the 2004r I just put in the car. The back up lights and neutral safety switch were kicking my butt! Now I am thinking about just putting a console in and changing to a floor shifter. (Time to start spending that cambat pay!) Has anybody tried to hook up a 67 auto floor shifter to a 2004r? I didn't see any 67 shifters in the latest catalog the wifey sent me. Are they hard to come by? How 'bout the 67 consoles? I don't have access to eBay here, and I can't cruise the junkyards either.:) The new heater core I put in right before I left leaks (of course, I should have left the new one in there), so that needs to be replaced, and I still have throttle/trans TV linkage issues with the new Q-jet I installed. I haven't had a chance to install the new brake booster and master cylinder either. I just ran out of time. Once I get that stuff done, I think I may want to rebuild the rear. Then it is on to the body and paint. Oh yeah, I recieved orders to Fort Worth. I'll be moving there this summer. Anyone from around there? I'll need to find somewhere local that I can buy sheet metal from, I can't afford the shipping on that stuff. Well that is about all from here, be seeing you guys soon (I hope).

Thanks everyone for all your support. It is greatly appreciated. Joe, I am totally interested. I'll try to PM you, but I'm not sure if it will work, we are pretty clamped down with restrictions here. So how far is Arkansas from Fort Worth? May be worth a road trip! Dan, thanks for the link to Firewall Classics, I think I way have actually delt with them before. Rob, are you a member of of the North Texas Camaro Club? They look like a a pretty active club. Carl, how did your car turn out. I think you had your accident the same week I deployed? How's Buck (and Buck Jr.)doing? Is he still driving the bus? Well gotta go, take care all!

hey Sir,

I just retired from the Marine Corps this past March. I was stationed there at NAS JRB, Ft Worth, TX. I was with MWSS 473 from 2000-2002. You gonna love it. Texas folks are real nice. (and I'm not just saying that because I'm born and raised a Texan :) )They have a small hobby shop there on base too you can utilize. Got any questions about the area, I might be able to answer them. Stay safe out there and keep your head down.

I am a "member", but it is really informal, just a way to network and get together for fellowship, cruisin', eatin', swappin' etc.- all the stuff you are helping us preserve! Lots of events, even a good old Texas BBQ this coming weekend. BTW, several cars are featured in this months Camaro Performers mag.

All the best-

Rob

Gy,Tony,
I'll be working on JRB Fort Worth. I'm a KC-130 Navigator and I will be joining VMGR-234, the reserve herk squadron based out of there. I had looked briefly at the B&Ms, but I have always liked the look of a console anyway. This is just my excuse to get one, I guess. I think I keep figuring out new projects to complete on the mechanicals/driveline so I don't have to do the paint/bodywork. I'm still waiting for Chip Foose and his friends to drop by, but I'm running out of projects. Although I can always replace that rear end...and I have a whole new set of junkyards to prowl now to look for an early 70s Nova 8.5"...

You are welcome in TX---I live about 20 min outside of Ft Worth and like Rob says, the North TX Camaro Club is a great group. Look us up when you get here!

BTW, Rob, are you going to the picnic? If so, I look forward to meeting you.

I do plan on going- but still not able to drive the Camaro, so will be in my little Envoy. Also, GunnerV, I just picked up a 73 Nova rear the other day as a road trip rear to take the place of the 4.10 12 bolt, which will be the mainstay- it was $100- not too bad. Know of some other yards where 8.5 Posi's come in from time to time , so when you get here we will get you fixed up.
