I am in need of a base for my console along with a few small items. I've been in the bidding a few times and lose just about everytime.

I can't believe what some people are willing to pay for consoles, gauges and so on on ebay. Seems that some are willing to pay close to what new repos would cost. The auction in itself inflates prices regardless if they are worth it that I have seen.

Thoughts?

Usually, good original parts are worth more to people than reproductions because of the poor quality of some reproductions. I don't know how good the repro consoles themselves are, but I have a repro manual console plate from Trim Parts which are made in the USA and it's pretty nice. It all depends on what you want.

I would be a little worried about buying 40 year old gauges. Plus, when they where brand new people still had problems with em. Plus you will need all new senders mine as well get a matching set for the new gauges. I tracked gauges on e-bay like a hawk couldnt find any used ones worth the 350 bux people where paying. So I waited for a merchant to have a set cheap 225.00 new. From time to time a e-bay guy will under cut all the other guys. Whatch out for that and be ready to pounce.
