I haven't found any repro rocker panels for my 68 convertible. Are any available? How bad do they have to be before I really need them totally replaced versus just putting skins over them? What is your experiences either way?

Nobody makes any replacement parts for the conv. rockers. The rockers on a conv. are a full 3/16 in. thick where as the coupe rockers are on the lite side of 3/16. There is also 2 more pieces inside the conv. rocker so keep that in mind also. How bad do they have to be, thats up to you. For me, they would have to be pretty bad, cause to change them out let alone finding any is alot of work.

i don't know how good they are, but rick's sells an outer rocker and an "inner ribbing" for convertibles. these together may do the trick, but i'm not bodyman. i think their website is www.firstgen.com (http://www.firstgen.com) and you can download their catalog online if you have acrobat reader. i'm sure you could call them and they would be able to tell you if this is what you need.

I think you could greatly improve the conv strength with welded connectors too and offload the burden on the rockers.
