I'm about to install 3" drop DSE Leaf Springs on a 1967 F-body.
3 basic Questions for you guys:

1) Do i install the steel spring eye bracket on to the front of the leaf spring bushing and then install the leaf spring to the chasis a s acomplete assembly or do I install the bracket, by fastening the 3 bolts and then install the spring seperately??
How much do I torque the long bolt- spring eye bracket to the spring??

2) Using the DSE urethane rear shackle bushings, where do I apply the lube exactly...to the side of the bushings(where the shackle attaches); inside where the bushings slides over the metal rod; or do i apply it over the bushing where it slides through the leaf spring and chasis??? I Dont want to waste the little lube I have on areas that dont need it.
Again, How much do I torque the shackle bolts??

3) I just finished mini-tubbing it but its been so long I cant recall if the shocks(non-staggered) attach to the shock plate behind the axle(facing the rear) OR in front of the axle(more toward the front of car). Please help clarify.

Thanks, Chris

oh sure, there's always some, working late tonight?

The front perch has to go onto the spring first, then bolt the assembly into the car.

I would lube every bit of those rear bushing, smear it on all the contact surfaces.

The bolts, which should have some form of locking nuts, do not go on real tight, certsainly not tight enough to deform the bushings.

original 67 shocks went behind the axle.

like jim said bolt the front eye perch to the spring ...i bolted the shakels to the frame the the leaf spring to the car......then i used a bottle jack to compress the leaf spring to where it bolts to...(the eye braket to the frame) and it jammed it...then just played with it until the bolts line up...fairly easy job..jsut make sure the car and the rear end is supported and arent going to fall while you wrestle with the springs

Are you sure? I mean it's possible but, my car, factory assembly manual,, and restoration manuals all say that '67 shocks bolt up in front of the axle.

hmmm, maybe I'm not.... it was over twenty years ago that I had a 67... they should mount pretty close to straight up and down... so if the upper mount is in front of the axle centerline, they go in front.

And for sure they go the way the assembly manual said, so I stand corrected.

WORK SAFE HERE B/C IF IT COME'S DOWN, IT CAN KILL YOU!!!

I keep my front end on tires down on the ground for stability and then double crib it up in the middle too!

Used to use my great big old mounted L-60's and some 2x4 stock but since they are now up on the shelf, I use floorjacks AND jackstands together!!

The 67 would go in front of the Axle.
