Have a 69 camaro race car with 15x8 weld wheels with a 4.5 bs.tires are 28x10.5 mt slicks.this combo fits fine, but i'd like to try a 10" wheel instead.will a 15x10 with a 5.5" backspace clear the inner wheelhouse? the outer wheel lip is cut to the edge.i'm sure it will be close as its close now,but the real question is how much will the 2" width in rim effect the section width of the tire.mt's website says a 28x10.5 will have a section width of 11.7 mounted on a 10" rim.mine have a 11.75 section width on a 8" rim ? maybe the only way to truly tell is buy a rim and check. anybody running a combo like this?? thanks.....

i guess i should change my question....... how much does increasing the wheel width affect the tires section width.if i go by those measurements and M/T posted measurements the 8" rims and 28x10.5 tires i run wouldnt fit.......and they do. what will 2 more inches of rim do to my tire???

What I did to make sure my McCreary 285/60/15 SH's would fit was to make a cardboard template and check clearances.

For BFGoodrich T/A Radials every 0.5" of added rim width changes the section width by 0.2".

I have 15X10" rims with 4-3/4 back spacing with 28X10" Hoosier slicks on my car. My tires rub on the inside of the wheel well occasionally. I don't think the tire will clear with 5-1/2" back spacing.
