Since getting my car back from the body shop (the front wheel fell off my '69 RS/SS 396), I've got a loud hissing coming from the brake pedal when its depressed, but only when its depressed part way.

Could this be something to do with the RS headlight hoses? Where do they pick up vacuum? Or is it most certainly the brake booster gone bad?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, it sounds like it might be the Power booster. Does the brake pedal feel normal? Also are the headlight doors opening and closing okay? I would think they would be malfunctioning, if there were a vacuum leak.

yes it is the booster the same exact thing happened to me with a brand new booster ...brought it back got another and all went away..it even make the car run a little rough b/c of the vaccum leak...block off the hose until you get the new booster.....

Ok, I was going to put in a different booster anyway to clear the roller rockers on my new engine, so might as well bite the bullet.

Weird that it happened to occur at the body shop, or when the wheel fell off, but I guess stranger things have happened.

Most likely the booster housing or Check valve, did crack or come apart because of the jolt it took when the car hit the ground.
