I've always liked deep tinted windows on my cars to keep the black vinyl interior cooler plus I like the look. I'm not completely sold on this for my '69 Camaro. Most people don't tint the windows on muscle cars. What is your opinion?

My back window is tinted and it makes a big difference in looks as well as keeping the car cooler.

Be careful as some States have a law as to the percentage of tint on the driver and passenger windows. I don't believe that it matters on the quarter windows or rear window however. I also like the tint, by my car is black anyways. I changed the black vinyl to the houndstooth and that made a difference in the inside temp.

Sides and back on our 68 are 20%. Legal in this state. They are not that dark and I think make the car look great.

I voted no tint for classics but my car does have tint. It is a clear tint that reflects more heat then 5% limo tint. Some kind of german film (will have to dig up my receipt). Tint shop has a heat lamp where you can compare. It reflects way more heat then conventional smoke tint and a little more then ceramic tint.Would not have believe it without seeing/feeling difference.

Where I live 35% is the darkest you can go on cars. A lot of guys use this clear tint on front windshield. Drawback is the cost.

Here is the car with tint on all glass except frt. windshield.

I vote no on the Tint unless it has a factory look.

Dark tint may look cool and help reduce interior temperatures, but being able to establish eye to eye contact is a serious safety issue that should not be ignored. Please; no dark tint.

No tint. It makes it easier to see the USA in your Chevrolet.

Wazzup Ray !! Where did you get that tint from? I love tint, but actually prefer NOT to have it on my 68. personal preference. But I like that clear but effective look!!

Unless it's pimp my ride time for the homies I'd say no to dark tints! Over in the UK it's a boy racer thing- goes with the color-coded everything/ huge chrome wheel/boom box ICE/black windows! But for a camaro?...hmmmm...

Hey Paul! It was done at Al's tiniting in Pearl City. Kinda expensive just for tint so I wouldnt put it on a classic unless you plan to install a/c. Lifetime on materials and labor.

A couple co-workers use it on their front windshield. I thought it was bs at first but it really works. Check out their heat lamp demo.

I guess it depends how original you want to keep your car. My preference is originality, so I vote "no tint." I'd probably change my mind if I ever updated it with modern wheels, drivetrain, interior, etc. Some of them look pretty darn cool too!!

Orginal laminated glass had a light tint and dark tint, and I think in 2 colours(?) green and blue.
I have the green, very dark at the top gettig lighter as go lower on the widscreen...the side rear glass is evenly tinted.

When I bought mine it already had tint, so I keep the windows down and roll them up when I'm not in the car. Usually just drive it during daylight hours and good weather.....works for me. :)

Sorry guys, but with choosing to customize my car and (at the time) living in the desert. The darker the tint the better or you cooked in the car even with wing windows wide open. The majority of a/c equipped cars got it too. My other choice for getting it was to keep prying eyes out of it when it was parked. What they can't see to steal makes it less tempting to break in and take.

That's easier to say when you don't live down in the south where we regularly hit 100+ degrees during the summer.

I'll be doing as much tint as I can leagally do in MI. I found a place (through word of mouth so far...) that will etch the chevy bowtie into the back window for me. Sounds cool to me.

Thanks for all the responses!!!!! After cleaning up my original untinted glass I found a few scratches in each piece so I ordered new tinted glass. I'll install it and see if it is dark enough. If not I'll probably add aftermarket tinting. My car is not original but a mild custom with FG hood, motion stripes and Cragars. I'll post some new pics when/if I get the damn thing out of paint prison!!!!!!

Unless your Camaro is your work car and you live in 100+ weather as I do right now, I'd say leave it alone. I like the way it looks but can't bring myself to do it as my car will most likely be driven at night.

it all looks good, as long as its a camaro right?!?!?!? haha. and yes TClovis, the dark tint is a PITA at night. so i would have to say i would go medium dark on my car. and if you do tint, its a good thing to not go super cheap on it. like the sticker tint that turns purple and starts to peel like a year after its on.

Here is my tint story real quick.. I got pulled over in my state where "applied tint" is illegal. It was the first time I experienced a Cop who seemed to have a chip on his shoulder. I asked him why the tint was illegal and he said , " because it is dark and obstructs the drivers view " .. my response was to ask " is it OK to wear my sun glasses then, they are pretty dark" he gave me a weird look and wrote me a ticket.. I found out there are two kinds of tickets for this violation in California.. one is a fix it ticket and the other is a moving violation.... guess which one I got ?

Here is a picture of my car when I first got it out of TX with full tint.. and one after I removed the side window tint.

th reason it is illegal in CA to have tint dark enough not to see inside it is so that the police can see what is going on in your car. i like your new tint much better than the other chevythunder. but the back window i still like it dark like the first picture you have.

I'd love to put dark tint on my car, but with the strict laws around here, 35% is about the darkest I can go. With the heat in Hawaii though, light tint is better than no tint.

I have a 69 Camaro, Cortez Silver with Black stripes, windows tinted pretty dark except windshield, probbaly not legal here in FL, but with the color combo of the car, the windows look pretty awesome.

I am going to tint my windows on both my cars, but they are third gens, not sure if I would do it to yours, there's other ways of preventing fading if that's your only reason. :)

personal preference: depends on the color of the car.
white or light colors, yes!
darker color car, very light or none.
