: how many bolt holes on a orig rear 67 spoiler,
Chris Edwards Apr 24th, 01, 02:55 AM I just purchased a 67 rear wing, it has like 8 holes for bolts for holes needed in my trunk, but when I look under my trunk I can see some stampings for what "look" like could be hole points for the wing, but they dont even come close, the wing is a repro,(fiberglass) but has bolts in the front and rear of the wing spaced out evenly across the entire piece. was there a certain trunk lid for rear spoilers, or just drill away...?

Rear spoilers were not an option in 1967.
I think it is Year One that has a template in their catalog for drilling the holes. However, I have heard that the mounting studs on the spoilers are usially not where they should be. Therefore, you have to drill the holes for your particular spoiler.
The trunk lids were the same on spoiler and non spoiler cars.

HawaiianCamaro Apr 24th, 01, 08:50 AM Chris, They do sell the template, but i went and used a peice of cardboard and made one outling the entire peice. punch the bolts through the cardboard and then trace around the spoiler. remove it then cut it to make your own template. with tracing around the entire peice you can then line it up to be equal on left and right sides of the lid. make your holes and drill. best to do before the lid gets painted that way the holes wont rust through. If its painted already i recommend you use some touch up paint to cover the bare metal. Since it will be hidden under the spoiler i would think just touch up paint would be good. Just a note and the ladies might laugh but clear fingernail polish works great and even better if you could find a color close to yours already. hard to beat the small brushes that come with the bottles.

KevinW Apr 24th, 01, 09:48 AM Chris, how long have you been in Eygpt? http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif I have heard that early 67s do not have all the cutouts in the inside lid support. If you don't have the cutouts, you have to drill the decklid holes (use Jeff's cardboard template idea) first then eyeball the support and drill bigger holes underneath for the nuts. I saw a pic in an old US camaro club edition on this very subject. later, Kevin

Chris Edwards Apr 25th, 01, 06:56 AM egypt? oh my location profile, actually I am south of Baltimore MD, kinda in the middle suburbs of nowhere, so I thought that B.F Egypt sounded funnier. http://www.camaros.net/forum/wink.gif

Splam@aol.com Apr 26th, 01, 04:48 AM Chris the other posts are correct early 67 deck lids do not have the holes in the bottom bracing of the deck lids where the studs from the spoiler would stick through for the nuts. If you cut these it will be hard to make them look like the origional holes since the were stamped and larger than the studs by quite a bit. I would look at one that has a spoiler before I started cutting and drilling. I have several deck lids and I may part with on it you would like. The other thing is I think the location of the deck lid emblem changes and you will have the same situation in that you will have to drill the deck lid and the braceing on the underside for the studs on the emblem. Good luck.
Gary Dorion Apr 26th, 01, 04:11 PM There really is no templet for the rear spoiler. The best way to install is to make your oun templet with cardboard. That is what I did with my 69. I believe year one even states that no two spoilers will have the same bolt patterns. GM used many suppliers and as a result, many bolt patterns.
