I am in trouble. I need help if anyone has done this before. I have my 96rs Driver Side door apart to replace the window motor. After looking at it from a couple of angles and removing a couple of rivets, I am thinking I probably should not have done that, I cannot see how to get the drive motor out. It appears there are four rivets holding it on. Two of which I have already drilled out, but after I looked closer the rivets appear to hold the entire assembly in place. Has anyone done this before and can you help????

My first question would be-are you absolutely sure that the motor is actually bad? Usually, the switches are the first thing to go bad, then the relays. You rarely ever hear of the actual motor going bad.. At this stage in the game-STOP! Don't do anymore damage until you are absolutely sure that the motor is the problem.
Have you tested the motor by applying 12V+ and a (-) ground directly to the motor leads? If not, do that now! If after this test you find the motor is the culprit.. Well, you are half way to having it out! Go to the recycling yard, and pull the motor from a donor car. That way you can figure out the proper way to remove it without tearing up your car. If you damage the donor car-no harm=no foul. Otherwise, get a Haynes manual, or another auto body repair manual which has the exploded view of the door to help guide you. If on the other hand you find the motor is good, you can reattach the assembly points that you have destroyed and be back in business.
BE SAFE! I have heard that the springs that aide the motor can be very dangerous if you don't know how to secure them before removing the regulator assembly! They have a scissors action that can cut your fingers right off if you are not careful. If you are not 100% sure what you are doing, seek the help of a professional before you cause further damage to your car, or yourself.
Good luck with your project.
