Tuesday, ups brought me a nice big box from Summit. In a second box were 2 big peices of SS Braid, 4 hose ends, a billet specialties bowtie rad cap (17 psi), a Billet Specialties swivel thermostat housing, and a new upper alternator brace with less bend than the vette brace I'd been using. Total damage was $467. Spent 4 hours that night with a polishing wheel on my new Summit/Northern Radiator, Then got-er-done Wednesday night.
First pic, which will probably show as a link, is how it look with the old radiator. It's black and ugly, and my shiny alluminum shroud is hanging off the original top shroud bracket, not very tight to the rad, and kinda crooked.
Once the new rad had a nice shine, I glued the lower shroud clips onto the tanks. I clipped the shroud on, then screwed it into the top core support with 3 chrome screws. Typical aftermarket parts, the mounting holes were a lil wide, had to grind em some to get the bolts in. The thermostat housing was so I could turn it clear of my oil fill tube, no way that giant fitting woulda gone on without it.
Filled it up with coolant and went for a spin. She's running just under 180, where she was at 195. Guess it works, and it sure looks a whole heck of a lot better!
Notes: a 16", 1 3/4 id hose was perfect for the lower, summit#spe6816
The 25" x 1.5" upper hose fit perfect for me, but with a stock type thermostat housing, it would have needed 4" of trimming, part #spe5825
matching hose end are # spe6160 (1.75) and spe5160 (1.5)
