I've been trying to find out how well a complete fibergass frontend on a 68 camaro would hold up on a daily driver. I contacted one fiberglass company and they said their products are for street or track use. What you think about the one pieace with a tilt hinge kit?

I think a 1 piece would be tough to use on a daily driver mainly because of headlamp & turn signal lamp brackets to bolt the stuff up to. Not to mention air flow for the coolant. If I were to go glass with my street car I would go with the separate pieces and bolt them together keeping the rad. support metal just for a strong support to bolt the glass pieces to. Maybe there wouldn't be as much flexing with the metal rad. support. I don't know if the glass fenders have the headlamp mounting tabs allready in them or not, but if they didn't I don't think it would be a big deal to install them. Then you could use your grill and look as stock as you can.

I talked about this with the guys at VFN fiberglass www.vfnfiberglass.com (http://www.vfnfiberglass.com) and they said that they do make "street weight" versions of their one piece front ends, but they have to be mounted with special fasteners and require some amount of work to put on... and you need to cut holes in them if you want air to go through your radiator and such...

It will drop a lot of weight though...

They said that they will soon be releasing some individual fenders made of fiberglass and with those they will have all of the front end sheetmetal other than inner fenderwells and rad supports for a first gen. I have heard good things about their products as well.

If I were to replace my front end metal with 'glass, that is how I would do it. Don't save quite as much weight and will cost a bit more, but it is easier and will look stock.
