View Full Version : Stanless Trim reuse

I have the Repro door panels on my Camaro. When I purchased the car all looked OK. Then one day I found a piece of the stainless trim laying in the back seat. It had been applied with two sided tape. The panels look good and fit well but It looks as if the clips on the stainless have been broken off. Now I see that all of the stainless except for the top pieces have been taped on. I assume the top stainless comes with the panels.
I was wondering if anyone had found a "fix" for this. I have heard about using a metal clip and epoxy it to the stainless. I would much rather use the original stainless trim if it can be salvaged.
Also the Camaro logo that goes above the arm rest has also come off. I think that those are just glued on though.
Can anyone tell me what type of adhesive I would use.
My car is a 1968 Coupe with Standard interior.
I am aware of the kit from Classic but I have all the original stainless.

I know I spelled the Title wrong but I can't believe that nobody has run into this problem. I know it is not a big deal but originality is the end result.
I had hoped that here was someone who had the same problems.

I used Coolchem on lots of items like that. It works like this use the one to mate two items together then spray the catalyst on the outside of the two parts and its works instantly. Use can get a sample of what Coolchem does by checking out their Website CoolChem.com

The camaro emblems on the door panels have clips on the back or at least mine did?

Hey guys thanks for the help. It seems as if the previous owner just yanked the stainless off, not thinking of the clips, and I will have to improvise. I have a Chem tech who knows from vinyl and adhesives so I will talk to him. He does interiors for 30s and 40s vehicles that have no repops available. I guess I will have to go to him for a fix for these. He is good.
Thanks again.
