: Please check for the correct forum before posting...
DjD May 15th, 06, 09:02 PM Folks you are wearing out the moderators, their fingers are bleeding from moving non-tech threads out of this forum to bench racing as well as topic's that clearly fit in other tech forums without thinking hard about it.
This forum should never be used for non-tech posts and only be used when you have a topic that doesn't fit in one of the other forums. Like it says under the title from the main forum page "General Tech Area For best results use specific forums"
This is not a scolding or some type of power trip, just a simple request to get everyone to think about where they are posting... All the moderators are just trying to help, and that's the TC spirit just like trying to make sure folks get the right answers to their questions and helping with other site issues that crop up. If you haven't seen all the forums available here's a direct link...
http://www.camaros.net/forums/index.php
Here's a link to the main page as well, there may be some aspects of the site you've missed just hanging out in one place...

Thank for reading this and for doing your part.
Kyvox May 25th, 06, 11:19 PM I have a sugestion;
Why not move "Camaro Tech" to the bottom of the page, instead of having it the first topic, at the top of the page? "Camaro Tech" does sound like an all encompassing lure to a first commer, until they decifer the way the site is really set up.
Sorry I missed the questions here until now... John your suggestion is being given consideration...
It is indeed a catch-all type of forum. From past experience it seems that unless there is a forum like this some new visitors get frustrated and never post, or if they do, it's in an area which doesn't get answered.
If it's not readily visible it would encourage more looking through the forums, but when we did that a few years ago the emails came in asking where to post. We can always give it another try.
wickedridz Aug 24th, 06, 02:20 PM how about how do you place an ad in the cars for sale section?
kz1000ltd Aug 24th, 06, 03:13 PM How about you don't move anything and just let it go?
choptop Aug 29th, 06, 06:29 PM I have a suggestion, is it possible to put a disclaimer banner with large, bold lettereing on the general forum page? Something like: "Please post your question in the approriate forum section. Catagories have been set up to help answer your questions efficiently. Please read the section description carefully before you post. Due to the volume of posts on this forum, all posts made outside of section content will be deleted. Please refer to our F.A.Q. section for further guidance. Thanks for your cooperation, Team Camaro Administratiors."
I know we do not want to discourage people, but simple rules should be just that. If people cannot figure that out then it is time for them to put down the wrenches.
Flynn69 Oct 21st, 06, 07:14 AM How about if you changed the title,to something with less connection.
Everybody goes here first to find something or to post, because they want it in a hurray plus its first in line.

Joe Harrison Oct 21st, 06, 08:50 AM how about we look where we post before we post........umm novel idea I think.
I am just as guilty as anyone posting in the wrong place now and then because I have not done what I put above. Times that by 20,000 and I get DJD point.
bills1969 Nov 24th, 06, 06:15 AM I am guilty of this myself and am sorry for it.Now i know. How about like above moveing it and makeing one called B-S for just anything members want to discuss.Just a thought. This is how it is set up on the nova site i am a member of also.It like this site is one of the best i belong to!I came to a realization that chevy people are just alot cooler than any other car maker.I am a member on other forums and there are only a few people on them that are decent. If you want to check it out the nova site is www.steevesnovasite.com (http://www.steevesnovasite.com) like here there is tons of info and great people to connect with and that is what it is all about to me.In my short time here i already have made friends with one member (MIKE) and plan on a cruise this comeing spring/summer with him.
Steptoe Nov 24th, 06, 11:55 AM I had a similar problem..so I got the stats for the most visited and most posted sections and placed them at the top, under thew "introduce yourself" the rest in order going down.
Result was far less intances of posting in wrong section, and the intro yourself tended to take most of them so it was basically only that area to mod.
chevy67 Feb 10th, 07, 07:07 PM How about calling a FORD forum? Then it wont get used at all.
Dale8346 Mar 5th, 08, 07:00 PM Maybe you could ask people to always put their YEAR in the topic.
Joe Harrison Mar 5th, 08, 08:42 PM Maybe you could ask people to always put their YEAR in the topic.
This idea could be put in the info area under our names/nicks so it's can be seen if the member wants it there. I know some of us have more than one camaro but the space should have a place for only one.
Joe

John, you're right. I am new here and put a thread about my carb problem there, rather than in "engine" 'cause I didn't know better.

av8r65 Oct 19th, 08, 12:33 PM I just started a new thread with regard to a bunch of questions on how to identify a 70 Z28... is it OK to use this section for that?
DjD Oct 19th, 08, 01:01 PM Joel - it would better fit in the 2nd gen forum than here.

Dear Mr. Monkey - give the mods a break ;)
These guys do try to keep the stuff in the right forums as much as possible, and have asked others to helps by considering where they post also - that's all I can read into this O-L-D thread ...
They may have seen yours and thought it would get more attention in another forum - I doubt anyone was trying to stomp on your (or anyone elses) huevos over a post :noway:
I hope you can make it ot one of the shows this year and get ot meet Dennis, I and somne of the others - I think it would give you a greater appreciation of his efforts after you've talked to him for a while
As always JMHO's :D

Pro-Street69Camaro468 Jan 6th, 10, 12:04 PM There is no great disaster if they don't get moved to the correct forum is it.I believe it is fine to move them especialy if the moderators feel they will be answered better.
I see all sorts of Pro-Street questions being asked all over the boards and don't get moved to the correct forum.I dont realy even go to a specific forum I always hit new posts or todays posts.
This thread should have realy been in site discussion am I correct.Do we have a moderator that is a Pro-Street guy if not I would like to see that.
This comes down to my old question na I not going to ask I have to wait a year before I bring it up again.I am going to get there it may be when my subscription ends on TC 2099...lol...
Pro-Street69Camaro468 Jan 6th, 10, 12:08 PM sure is!!:yes::hurray::beers:
Who is steevesnova anyway I'm not sure I want to visit there he cant even spell his own name right.Lets stay with the Teams,Camaro,Chevelle,Nova....
crazyshopmonkey Jan 6th, 10, 12:43 PM I know Dennis and he has meet and knows me, I work for a long time member of the Camaro Automotive Industry (his company was started in 1976 here on the peninsula and is the reason that many others in this camaro community exist both Clubs and business) I do not wish to say who, because I am NOT here promoting the company I work for, (if you would like to know I can tell you offline any time) Im here just to help with the many years of knowledge I have gained from my Friends and Builders. I have attended several shows all over the State of California, I have been building Camaros for many years now, and answering Technical questions phoned in to our shop for years, I work with many vendors on a one to one bases Daily and I thought that maybe some insight into the industry would be appreciated here, I have NO problem with you placing the post in a new category, I just ask you do that with all, I don't think football games, BBQ's, and moderators category changes qualify as tech either? ;) but there they are? and I say something about the state of our industry and Off we go, bad form boys
Pro-Street69Camaro468 Jan 6th, 10, 01:03 PM I didn't realize this thread was started before I was born....What is a sticky and what can be talked about in it.I was thinking it was a open topic such as this I didn't realize that this was a sticky either.
Vintage 68 Jan 6th, 10, 01:52 PM ... because I am NOT here promoting the company I work for, (if you would like to know I can tell you offline any time)
;) actually - I do know who you work for, we've met and talked a few times over the years.
I was not aware you and Dennis were good friends.
As I said, I can see why the mods and site admins try to keep certain posts in certain forums - I can only imagine how hard it is now with the addition of all the new forums
I quess I'll just let the mods defend themselves ...
ps: I don't know much about Camaros - I do learn something almost every day about them though :D
John
crazyshopmonkey Jan 6th, 10, 02:31 PM Vintage are we in the wrong forum for this?:D I'm sure those big bad moderators can defend themselves, I just think that because I am new here that sometimes the moderator might wield a mighty keyboard before understanding where I come from:thumbsup:

DNJS69Z Feb 9th, 10, 07:53 AM I think I have been coming to Team Camaro for advice for a little over a year now. I wasn't getting any responses under Interiors sect. so I thought I would go to the Tech experts. Not a computer guy and not real great with these sites yet. I apologize for any problems I may have caused here.
By the way, I want to say that Team Camaro advice has helped me immensely. Very detailed and informative most of the time.
Thanks again, Don
afun69 Jun 27th, 10, 12:53 PM well im new here . i have just 2 questions. im sure they have been asked many times . 1969 total production . an total convertables produced. where do i go to find stuff like that . sorry im sure im in the wrong place
bigbuckcity Oct 29th, 10, 04:32 PM I see no forum for where to get Speedometers and Radios repaired, the only thing I see it might come under is Electrical or Interiors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DjD Oct 29th, 10, 07:17 PM I see no forum for where to get Speedometers and Radios repaired, the only thing I see it might come under is Electrical or Interiors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We hope the members and participants here use their best judgment, the problem with te radio or speedo is electrical then it needs to be placed in the Electrical forum, If the problem is not electrical but busted knobs then Interior might be best... Then again if someone asks about where to get something restored back to stock working condition we have a Restoration forum it would fit well in. If you are stuck and pondering over where to put something, just make a decision and post it, we have a great bunch of moderators here that don't mind helping out and moving things around.
I know the forum thing can get confusing but a lot of what you posted earlier today got edited... The key is staying on topic and when someone posts about their vin or trim tag it isn't the best place to recomend a place to get a radio fixed...
MagnifiedEgo Jun 29th, 11, 04:50 PM im guilty too this is my first time trying to post i didnt know how to do it or where to do it i apologize

sprtpilot Jul 21st, 11, 12:17 PM There are WAY too many divisions. It only adds to the perception of lack-of-posts and a dead seeming forum. If there were a lot fewer categories, you would see the recent posts more often/easier.
DjD Jul 21st, 11, 12:50 PM There are WAY too many divisions. It only adds to the perception of lack-of-posts and a dead seeming forum. If there were a lot fewer categories, you would see the recent posts more often/easier.
I don't disagree with you about the divisions or number of forums but based on what other members request there are not enough. Most of the site frequent users have found the "Todays Posts" or "New Posts" shortcuts and for reading posts and replying to existing posts it's like having everything in one forum. Doesn't help anyone figure out the right forum to post in though but if folks would read the subtitle under the forum name it sure would help them out.
The bottom line is the forums don't get any support from the company that owns the site, they have one person that has to support maybe 100 sites and priority is signing up supporting vendors. The active moderators and admins don't have access to change the forum layout so we all have to do the best we can within the frame work we have.
