View Full Version : brakes from a 2004 impala? vrdanna May 17th, 06, 08:23 AM There is a guy parting out a 2004 impala ss in my area and i'm wondering if the front disc brakes can be used on my 69 camaro. I presently have front drums. Dans67 May 17th, 06, 09:10 AM I am not 100% sure, but I don't think so. New cars have ABS, wheel speed sensors, etc, which make the swap more of a hassle than its worth. Stick with something from the 70's or 80's and I think youll have a lot less headaches. Dan Larger Dave May 17th, 06, 02:37 PM '77-'99 Impala discs also require bigger Impala spindles to bolt them on. (they can be bolted to your A-arms but the geometry is going to be messy because everything is bigger (not only trac but the actual bolt sizes are larger). 2000-2006 is front wheel drive, and I have no clue what fits what. Larger Dave BonzoHansen May 17th, 06, 08:32 PM I think the ABS sensors are mounted to the backing plate on those. How about the rear disc setup???? JimM May 17th, 06, 09:24 PM the sensors and stuff are no problem, just leave them off... But isn't a 2004 impala Front wheel drive? The wheel brearings and stuff probably aren't even close to what we use, the spindle certainly won't interchange, heck the wheel stud pattern is probably metric, and the brakes are probably smaller than stock 69 disks. DjD May 17th, 06, 09:56 PM The front rotors on a 2000 impala are identical to those on a '98-'02 4th gen Camaro. AC Delco #89000529 and #89000530 (L&R). That means you could use the rotors with a drum spindle and one of the many adapter plates for 4th gen calipers... importkiller69ss May 17th, 06, 10:18 PM swet and the stuff is proly cheaper..wish iwould have know this when i went on the hunt for my ls1 crap..might haved saved a few BonzoHansen May 19th, 06, 07:49 PM the sensors and stuff are no problem, just leave them off...
