Can anyone tell the part name and function of what I will call " the 3 different size aluminum fingers w/ springs" that is mounted to the side of my a/c suitcase? And can this part go bad? And maybe a way to test said part. 1969 coupe w/ sb350

Also the orange wire with the in-line fuse.....does it get power from the horn relay? and does it feed direct to the blower relay? Thanks.

Blower resistor, it has three sets of metal coils on the bottom of the fingers. these are the three resistors that control the 3 lower speeds on the fan. As long as they aren't melted and the coils are intact they really cant go bad. If you hook the blower motor to it without it being installed in the duct they will melt pretty fast. It gets power from the fan speed control switch on the heater control panel inside the car. It has nothing to do with the blower relay at all. The relay controls the fan in high speed only, and gets the fan power from the horn relay thru a wire that runs across the back of the engine compartment. The coil of the relay is energized by 12v coming from the fan speed control switch inside the car. The only common point of attachment is that the wire to the blower motor is attached to both the output of the resistor and the output of the relay.

The one on the side of the case is an Ambient temperature switch. It keeps the Evaporator from freezing. The orange wire goes to the horn relay. Check out the assembly and or the fisher body manuals. Thats where I got my info, and yeah I peeked the hood.
