I've removed the Vintage Air from my '69. can anyone point me toward a schematic or diagram (or explain) how the original non-air car vent system was ducted or functioned. I've retained the V.A. heater box so I still have defrost and heat, but what I'm after is returning the kickpanel vents to flow fresh air from outside. V.A. installation sheets depict round duct covers which were to block air flow into the cabin, (and I've found the one on passenger side) but it appears that if I remove this (as is) all I'm going to get as for fresh air is from the inner fender / engine compartment area, which is going to = heat and fumes, which I definitely don't want.
thanks

I'm going from memory here, the heater exits into a plastic "duct" that hugs the interior firewall, "Y" shaped, that takes heat/air to the dash defroster ducts. Or, in the heater mode, it exits the hot air from the heater box under the dash, towards your feet. No ducting. The air vents in the dash (2) get fresh air from the cowl area. A ducthose is run from the vent behind the dash, to a hole with a duct and seal into the cowl. These vents are controled by the cables in the kickpanel. The kickpanel vents get air from the cowl, down the side, and exit at the kickpanel vents and are controled by the second cable in the kickpanel. Clear as mud?
