Saw a different kind of hook-up for an overflowtank at a cruise night.
Guy had a 1st Gen with a 383 in it. The polished aluminum tank was mounted on the aluminum fan shroud on the bat side. He had a SS hose going from the radiator overflow connecton by the cap down along side the radiator and then back up to connect to the bottom of the overflow tank. He had another SS hose connnected to the top of the tank. This line was run down along side the bat and was working as a drain/vent line. He said it worked fine. When the engine got hot it sent fluids to the tank. When it cooled off it vac the fluids back into the rad.
I have a hard time with this design!
What do you guys think?

Sounds fine to me.

sounds fine to me too, except the amount of expensive hose and fittings involved.

i have the same thing except my polished tank is on the front side of the core support..have the same lines but mine are just rubber so i can try to make them disappear..i hated to get out of my car when it was 100+ here in louisiana and see the green stuff leaking out exps with my animal so i got a overflow tank for yearwood speed and customs

That setup will work just fine and will do basically the same thing as a connection made on the top of the can with a pickup tube going to the bottom of the can.
