For those interested there is a new section on my webpage that shows the new 250 #/in Flex-a-Form fiberglass rear springs. They have been modified to use a spherical plain bearing system (similar to a GW CAT5) on each end.

Carl,

How do the new F/G springs compare in overall size to the Astro van F/G springs if you have ever looked the van springs over?

Sorry Paul, I've never looked at the Astro van setup.

Carl a little more info on those springs if you don't mind - are they from Vette Brakes? If not who? Do they bolt in as they come or do they need to be modified? Are they dropped without turning the spring eye? Will they work with the bushings that come in them for a car that is never going to see track use? Do you think they would still be a good choise with 500# front springs? Sorry to be so full of questions - thanks for your time.

They are Flex A Form springs, not Vette Brakes. http://flex-a-form.com/

They can be bolted in as delivered from FAF.

The ride height change, or drop, will depend upon what your current chassis height is. This spring will yeild an approx. 14-1/2" distance from the center of the axle to the bottom of the fender lip. The spring eyes can be reversed to allow another 3/4 - 1" drop.

They will work with the as delivered bushings.

These may be a bit stiff with a 500# front spring and an average weight car. You might want to contact George at FAF and discuss it with him.

There's also a small discussion about these springs in the suspension section here http://www.pro-touring.com/forum_main.htm
