: How to get rid of air pocket in cooling system

I just finished installing a new aluminum radiator and electric fan. I filled the radiator without taking off the thermostat housing. The car now overheats very quickly whether I'm idling or driving. I suspect that I have a trapped air pocket in the block. Should I simply remove the thermostat housing and drilla small hole in the thermostat? does that typically solve this type of problem?
Thanks,
Greg

I've never had a problem using the small hole method. Maybe just lucky. Eric68 just went through this, don't know what his resolve was though. Maybe PM him.

I just saw Eric's earlier thread. I'll try drilling the holes and see if that helps
thanks,

ok, I found my problem. It wasn't an air pocket at all. I didn't realize it, but I wired my electric fan backwards so it was pushing the hot engine air through the radiator rather than pulling in the cold outside air. I'd like to add that I'm glad i used quick disconnects on the wiring. A quick switch of two wires and everything checks out fine!!!

When I got air pockets on my snowmobile, I used to jack the front up as high as I could and it always made the air move out. I don't know how it would relate to a car, but it can't hurt to try.

Air pockets are not as a major as most believe.
usually filling the squezing the top hose in a pumping manner clears them.
If I get an air pocket the lpg regulator will freeze up...If u belive u have one, park the car on a slight hill facing up...
