any special prep tips or experiences for the home mechanic (a window tint friend is coming to help) besides reading the instructions to get them on without any problems

Try, if possible, to remove some wax from the stripes area using some type of cleanner or polish, make a good soapy solution to spray the stripes and the body and look for a place where there isn't much wind blowing so thet don't stick to themselves when handling them. Good luck Caribbean Pal.

Hey Orench, finally, I have a contact in a nearby Island - Thanks for the prep ideas
Actually we have a drag race against Puerto Rico Team this weekend in Antigua- I think they are from the Carolina strip scene
Our races here are just coming on but we have a good strip
Perhaps you can help me - I have some friends - we are looking for a clean or a machined 350 block bored 0.30 over and a good crank - or anyone selling a good shortblock - we may buy two if price is good!
Also anyone selling a good 350 turbo tranny for the strip or a street to strip
If you have any contacts, contact me direct at trevorkendall@hotmail.com

Good to hear from all fellow island cruisers
the races are pretty good although we are infants compared to the likes of Puerto Rico in terms of variety
japanese cars outnumber the 8 cyl diehards - they sell the most here - lots of turbos, nitro 4 cyl
So far we have had St. Maarten and St. Croix (a US virgin Island0 come up to compete against us and we just did a return leg to St. Croix a few weeks ago
we have one solid 9 sec car - an 8 cylinder and a few good 10's and 11's
I don't know if the site is still up but you can check out www.autoantigua.com (http://www.autoantigua.com)

Hi Caribbean Camaro, I'll see what I find and let you know asap. As for this weekend races, look out for old Datsuns with rotary or VW water cooled turbo engines, Toyota Starlets with Rotaries or 1.8 turbos and specially see if they bring a Hyundai Accent called "La Purga", that thing is in the 9's. Let me know how it goes anyway. One question, did you move street cars to antigua for racing or it's just for full race cars?

For Orench - the Puerto Rico race rained out on Sunday but because it was holiday weekend for us here in Antigua, we continued it in Monday
Two old datsuns turned up and a couple of starlets - no Hyundai's - The black datsun with a rotary was fast but it lost out to a small white one called "delirium" or something like that - there was also a starlet called "latriquita" or something like that
In all they beat us 5 - 2- but to be fair our two best cars both v8's, one of which runs 9's pretty well, did not compete for various reasons
Keep me posted on that block and especially any 350 tranny for drag/strip to street in good condition
The races are for all classes - 14sec down to 10 sec, and outlaw - which is heads up no break out
I competed in my 85 camaro for the first time - ran in 14 sec but got knocked out in semifinal - i ran on street tyres - not a good idea but it was fun
Take care
