Does anyone have the spare tire lock option on there car? and if so could you post some pictures of it.

bertfam May 26th, 06, 07:15 PM The Spare Tire Lock was a Dealer installed option (P/N 987048), and cost a whopping $6.65 in 1968. The only picture I happen to have of one is from Frank Incremona and Dr. Dobbin's book, "Camaro, 1967-1969 Fact Book" (see below). It's interesting to note that the option cost $4.20 in my 1971 Price Schedule (P&A 26), so somewhere along the line the price dropped! If only that would happen today!!! Also note the 2 containers of "Liquid Tire Chain" in the picture! Hope this helps... Seems like it would be alot of trouble to pry the trunk open back then just to get at a spare tire that may or may not even be in the trunk. | ||
