: Upper Control arm back from shop, Question?

Just got my upper control arms back from the machine shop to have the new Moog Bushings and shaft put in.
On one arm the shaft spins fairly free with a little play between the bushings. On the other, the shaft will turn ( very tight ) but the outer shoulders of the shaft is rubbing against the inside of the bushings. I can feel the grinding of the edges.
Is everything all right here? Once I put the nuts on the end of the studs sticking out the outer ends of the bushings and tighten will this all even out and be OK? My old ones would not turn at all because the bushings were so worn out and split.

Thanks
Ray

With stock rubber or aftermarket poly bushings, the bolt and washer will lock the inner sleeve of the bushing assembly to the crossbar. When the suspension moves, the bushing material itself deflects, the inner sleeve doesn't move. Once it's all bolted together they will be very hard to move.

Check how close the inner steel sleeve is to the step on the crossbar. If it's no further than 1/16" and does tighten up when you put on the bolt and washer you don't have a problem.

Thanks JimM

One has no clearance and the other ( the one that spins free ) is about 1/16. Thanks for the reply. I wanted to clean up and paint them this weekend and if there was a problem I was stopped. I figure I better ask before I go any farther. This must be about the 50th question you given me answers on.

Thanks again
