I am installing the rear bumper on a 69ss. I have the brackets for the end and the ones next to the end. It seems there should be a connection bracket for the center of the bumper to the body near the gas filler. There are holes through the tail plate that are the same size as the other bracket mounting holes but I can not find a bracket/brace that goes between the bumper and the body in the catalog's or dealers that I have talked to. Is this item made and if so where do I get one? Thank you for the help.

There is a center bracket assembly, the GM part number was 3937560. You may be able to get one from here (http://1967-81camarocarparts.com/pdf/F1_67-69/F1_10%20body.pdf).

Best of luck, they seem to be hard to come by.

If unreal has a used one, you would be wise to grab it up unless you know of a boneyard with a 69 hanging around with a bumper on it. The center bracket was riveted on the original bumpers and when some people took them off they assumed that the center bracket came with the repops or a GM replacement. WRONG! The center bracket is also the place where the license plate light mounts. Just remember if your are discussing this subject with someone wanting to replace their rear bumper, tell them to remove the center bracket.

I stopped by Rick's First Gen (http://www.rickscamaros.com) tent at the Memphis SCS this weekend. One of the guys there says they have the center mount bracket. The part number is BU-56 and it's about $15.
