Thanks for the heads-up. I always look forward to new CRG reports.

Wow!
Everyone knows how much I like the LM1's. Great Atricle Kurt.
Two of the three LM-1's that I have owned came with the painted rims and poverty caps, which added to the "sleeper" look.
The current LM1 that I have has the Muncie 3 speed and power drum brakes.

Also, two of the three have had 4 leaf multi's and one had 5 leafs. Any data on the difference? Did'nt I read somewhere that the SS350's mostly had 5 leaf and the Z's mostly had 4 leafs?

Great Job,

Rich

Great article Kurt :beers:
I wonder how many TC members LM1's are 4 bolt or 2 bolt, that might help CRG determine the percentage of each. Ive seen several go thru here and talk about their 4 bolt LM1...
Maybe we can compile those LM1's in here for you in this thread.
Block casting number and # of mains.

Mine is a 3932388 block with 4 bolt mains. Others please add yours here for Kurt's research.

Hey Jim,
Do you have a 12 bolt in yours? 4 leaf or 5 leafs on the springs?

Thanks guys. I knew Rich and Jim would like that one. :)

Rich,
You are correct on the springs, typically SS = 5 and Z = 4. All depends on the weight and the options. Looking thru the data, several other LM1 had 4 leafs.
Your orange one had 5, gold has 4, what's the 3rd one?

It *appears* most were 2 bolt, but not enough data to be conclusive.

More data is always appreciated.... :)

It was a white clunker. Made the gold one look great. Auto car. 12 Bolt and 4 leaf though.

Good article, Kurt.

Mine must have been one of the better optioned cars (no RS, though) with power disc brakes, deluxe interior, M20, 12 bolt positraction rear axle (3:31), etc. There is no evidence of dual exhaust which I wished it would have had. No paperwork came with the car, but was purchased a while before the doctored car craze took over. All the numbers line up (would anybody phoney up an LM-1 anyway?). I still have the original distributor and would like to have it rebuilt and put back on (HEI now - is IgnitionMan still around?).

I have the same block as Jim but it is a 2 bolt. It also has 5 leaf springs (since replaced).

Jim, I would like to see your car sometime. I get to the Brainerd area somewhat frequently. Is that you I see on the billboards on the way from Little Falls to Baxter?

Nope sorry, I dont have billboards up anywhere. Not even in the post office :) give a shout a few days ahead of a trip north, we can then arrange to meet up. :beers:

Leadman,
Thanks, I did have the 2 bolt block noted, but not the leaf springs.

Rich,
Don't know anything about that white car, hence my confusion. :)
