Same car as always, 1968 Camaro, L6. The center duct piece at the front of the console appears to be broken off. I assume this is the door unit that connects to the defrost ducts? It's broke off of the other 'main' piece of the ductwork on the passenger side and it's hanging over/on the gas pedal. I cannot seem to get the thing back up against the firewall where it is supposed to be. It has 2 retangular air outlets on it, one with a grille and one without.
Now what I don't understand. The side with the grille is facing up into the defrost ductwork. Is this supposed to be this way? I would think that the side with the grille would face the floor... But it must go in with the grille facing up because that's the direction it's broke off. I can't pull it back over to the center because somehow the control cables from the heater panel are stuck on something up by the steering column, that and the two control cables are criss-crossed somehow along side the piece.
First, can this part be bought?
Second, What can I do to at least get the cables off of it to pull it out of the way of the gas pedal? (The blower dosen't work anyway, nor does the heat or A/C).
