View Full Version : I need Heads and Intake Manifold
ricksvt Jun 1st, 06, 09:29 PM I have about 1500 to spend on these parts, whats your recommendations, whats going to make the most power? Engine is currently a 327 30 over, with some camels on it. Thanks for the advice, I am new to this carburated game

camaro_fever68 Jun 1st, 06, 09:55 PM You didn't really give a lot of info but just based on the CID of the engine, I'd say stick with some smaller runner heads such as Edelbrock RPM 170cc runners and a 64cc chamber along with a Performer RPM intake Air-Gap or not. Match that with a Voodoo 60103 cam and it will perform pretty decent.
CAM
The most awesome "268" cam ever produced Out–powers all others This High Performance street cam likes 2400 RPM stall, 700 cfm carb, dual plane intake and headers. Makes un–equaled power to 6200 RPM with proper valve springs.
Advertised Duration IN/EX: 268/276
Duration @ .050 IN/EX: 227/233
Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .489"/.504"
LSA / ICL: 110/106
Valve Lash IN/EX: Hyd/Hyd
RPM Range: 1800-6200
ricksvt Jun 1st, 06, 11:13 PM I do plan on putting in a 383 stroker when this motor goes, so I would like to use the heads for that too. I dont know what kind of pistons are in the car now either. Also, I have a 2500 stall

camaro_fever68 Jun 1st, 06, 11:46 PM I'm using the same heads and intake on a 383 now.
TexasPerfProd Jun 1st, 06, 11:51 PM Really need to know what your goal or purpose for this engine is. Such as all out race, drags or street/ strip, etc. What type of car is this going in and weight rear gear, od tranny? or 350/400TH etc. Will need detailed info to get a good setup for your application.

Cougar207 Jun 2nd, 06, 12:44 AM The SDPC Vortec Head kit (http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/2172/SDPC-Vortec-Cylinder-Heads-and-Head-Kits.htm). The RPM air gap intake/upgraded kit is $1009.95 with everything including bolts, self-aligning rockers, and gaskets. I just ordered mine as well as a Comp xe274 cam, Road Demon, Flowmaster exhaust, pushrods, timing chain, trans cooler, and lots of ARP fasteners, and other stuff...all for under $2000. It should wake my 327/210 up a little.

This would be a great way to go. The first thing you need to replace is your heads, headers, and dual exhuast.
ricksvt Jun 2nd, 06, 06:58 AM Alright, more info, sorry guys.
Headers - Dynomax
Exhaust - Flowmaster w/ H pipe
Tranny - Turbo 350 w/ 2500 stall
Rear - STOCK (Till I blow it up)
Ignition - MSD DIST, and just ordered some Taylor 409's
Do I need a MSD box for my car as well?
Car isnt driven too much, maybe 3000 miles a year. Would like something powerful, but I know I wont get that much out of the 327, but when I do the 383 I know I can get more. So I want heads and intake that can be carried over, so all I will have to do is order a longblock for the 383.
