Took apart my dashboard only to find that the guy I bought the car from
never put the defroster vents back in my 67 Camaro. I have purchased a new vent. Has anybody tried to install one of these? If so, do you have any hints on doing this? It looks like I'm gonna have to tear everything out just to install this vent.

I had to replace mine and it has one screw that holds it in place. Also I used black silicone as an extra precaution to keep thim in place. Hope this helps.

How did you get the vent up in there?

I had my guage cluster out, radio and every thing else that was in the way taken out. It was easy for me because I was installing a new vintage a/c system. Vintage air called for the use of silicone ahessive and the one screw that held it in.

Did another search and found the answer. I have to pull the heater box.
Looks like another fun weekend ahead.

In order to install the defroster ducts, everything has to be removed from underneath the dash radio, heater controls, glove box, etc. It is the first thing I put back after taking a car apart, because it is hard to maneuver under the dash, even when everything is removed. There are three screws that hold the defroster duct in (two at the top and one at the very bottom). Don't forget to buy a seal kit......there are two oval seals, that fit at the very top between the dash and the openings in the vent. Also, put some silicone on the screws to prevent water from leaking through the firewall where the screw holes are.
