I'm working on a 69 camaro SS and am going to be installing new floor pans. My question is should I use U.S. made or overseas pans? Has anyone had any experience using either one of these floor pans? Any help would be appreciated as I will be ordering these soon. Thanks

my experience is the US made floorpan is of a thicker gauge closer to the original floorpan, which aids in welding them in.

US made floor pans are also longer. Mine extend part way up the toe board, which takes care of most of the rust in that area. Also, I won't need to buy and install the toe board separately.

Thanks for the info but I called a couple of places today and they told me different stories. One said the US were the best but another place suggested the overseas ones. This will be the first ones I have installed so I will be looking for the best fit with the least amount of cutting and trimming. They talked about the toe boards and I have rust in the floor right below the gas pedal so I figured I will need them also. Any more input or installation tips will be appreciated.

If you have a good bodyman/welder it doesn't matter which you use.
When selecting a bodyshop for floorpan replacement make sure the welder states that he is going to set up a jig to make sure he gets them put in correctly.
If he does not they will buckle under pressure. http://www.camaros.net/forum/frown.gif

I finished replacing the floor pans in my 69 camaro today. i used the imports from Ricks First Generation and had no problems, other than it's time consuming. good luck

I installed 1 pan on my 69 right before Christmas. I used the import full pan (made in Taiwan). It was a lot of work but it went smooth. I did not think it was fitting well at first but with some screws pulled it into shape without much trouble, then removed the screws and welded up the holes. My only complaint is the 90 degree bent side that goes to the rocker panel was not near as long as the origional but it was long enough. If you weld it right I don't see how it could buckle under load. Has anyone had this happen? The other side will have to wait for a month or so as I am getting nagged to work on the house for a while. You know how that goes.
