I have finally gotten around to putting a radio in my 1969 convertible. Unfortunately, there is no antennae mounting hole on the car. I'm pretty sure the antennae goes on the right front fender, and I would like to know the exact location.
Right now I am guessing the centerline of the hole should be about 2" out from the hood seem and 6" forward from the cowl.
Does anyone have the exact dimension?

Make sure you drill in the right location, if I'm not wrong, there is a reinforcement under that area of the fender. I haven't made the hole for mine fearing that. IMO It's better to drill from underneath with the fender removed.

There is a reinforcement on the underside of the fender with a hole in it just for the ant. I took some rough measurements off the fender to the center of the hole (mine is still undrilled) From the inside lip Hood side it is 5.25" and from the farthest part of the fender (door side) it is 8". I don't know if you can get the last measurement on a installed fender or not. Also the manual says that from the side of the car it is suposed to stand vertically and looking from the front , it is supossed to lean inboard 4 degrees.

There is a special punch made for antennae holes. I'd remove the fender, drill the pilot through from the inside centered on the support and then use a punch.

Are you trying to return the car to a stock look ???
I see alot of Pro-Touring cars where the antenna hole has been filled.
There are underdash antennas available through several aftermarket companies, so you dont necessarily need an external antenna if you dont want one.
Thast what I was planning on doing on my '69 where I'm going with the Pro-Touring look rather than Factory stock....

I measured mine when I removed the original fender. The hole is 1 1/8" in diameter with a 5/32" wide notch, 1/4" deep (extending from the circumference of the circle). The notch points towards the center of the car.
Measurements to the centerpoint of the circle.
8" from the point on the front fender where it goes under the chrome at the "A" pillar.
5 3/8" from the inner edge of the fender (where the cowl and fender meet).
GM measurements indicate the center of the hole is 10" rearward of the face of the firewall, and 31 1/8" from the car centerline
Both measurments end up in the same place +/- 1/4".

Think about installing the anntenna on the right rear fender!! This was an option and I have it on my 69 and it looks sharp. It helps make your car alittle different than all the others! Did I say it looks great!!
