Has anyone ever seen a n ignition setup like the following. My 350 in my 69 has an external box mounted to the firewall,2 wires from it go to the coil and 2 go to the inside of the points distributor to a pickup. Is this just an old style electronic conversion like a pertronix or some type of hokey crap??!

Is it a aftermarket ballast resistor someone installed in the past?

Delco had a CD ignition kit back in the sixties. The electronics box looked exactly like the box for the Corvette transistor ignition. The label told you which was which. With this unit, the points were the trigger carrying very little voltage so they didn't burn out. I had this setup installed on our COPO Chevelle in about 1970. Still have everything in the original box. Would it be one of these? You didn't mention ballast resistors, of which there were two mounted to the firewall. Probably something else.

I see no ballast resistors at all.
