View Full Version : Dealership question? 69z28freak May 25th, 06, 10:07 PM Hi Dennis. I have a crazy question. Just curious what state the Sunnyvale Chev dealer in the picture is in. Just a hunch. 69z28freak Jun 3rd, 06, 07:19 PM Thanks Dennis. The reason I asked is because my car was purchased new at Raines Chevrolet in Sunnyvale CA. 68 six banger coupe. I was trying to find out info about the original dealer on this site, but I have been unsuccessful. Any suggestions on how I can find out more about the dealer that sold my car new? I baught the car from the original owner and I have the protecto plate. Any help would be appreciated. DjD Jun 5th, 06, 03:39 PM Sunnyvale Chevrolet was Raines until a couple years ago... Most of the mgnt was replaced but some of the employees stuck around. Here's a link to their web site. www.sunnyvalechevrolet.com You might try giving them a call... 69z28freak Jun 5th, 06, 09:05 PM That is awesome news. Thanks for the tip. In Canada they kept records of all the Camaros sold. I heard that was not the case in the states? Do you know anything about having records traced in the states? I have the protecto plate, but is there any other documentation that could be dug up through a dealer? DjD Jun 7th, 06, 08:54 AM Factory doc's in the US for these cars is a long running story that many hrs and the search engine here will get you caught up. The bottom line is Factory paper is not available on these old cars. Now as for what a dealership would have kept would be a dealership only knows deal... Storage space is expensive to the dealer and I don't see many going to the expense of microfilm conversion as opposed to using the circular file for old paper. My guess is a dealership like Raines that survived until few years back didn't keep old doc's. Where I think dealership paper might have been saved is that small dealership that closed it's doors and just retired everything in place back in the 70's or early 80's. Good Luck with the hunt though... Dayton68Z28 Jun 7th, 06, 09:48 AM ..... is there any other documentation that could be dug up through a dealer? Highly unlikely. Can you imagine the volume of paperwork that would accumulate at these dealerships if they keep all hard copies of paperwork. There was no need to keep records back in those days. My local Chevy dealer has changed names many, many times. Contacting the selling dealership to locate original 1969 paperwork and having them HAVE this paperwork, you would have the same odds to winning the state lotto. 69z28freak Jun 7th, 06, 09:28 PM Hey Dayton.
