I saw a post from last year about this service. I sent the OEM shifter out of my 69 Z/28 to Hurst on March 28 for a rebuild and re-chrome of the stick. After four weeks i tried calling but there is no answer, only an answering machine.

I sent a fax and received a response that my shifter will be shipped out next week. After not receiving it the following week I faxed them again but no response. Additional faxes asking where my shifter is went unanswered. I wrote a letter to Mr. gasket, the parent company, and am awaiting a reply.

The website said 3-4 weeks plus shipping. It is going on 11 weeks. Has anyone else had this problem with Hurst? How long did it take for you to get your shifter back?

I talked to the guy there are Hurst a week or so ago. My shifter had been there 5 weeks at the time and I was getting a little concerned...I am not in a hurry for mine, but I was just wondering what was going on. He informed me that he has been swamped and the time frame is behind. He had my shifter tore down and was currently working on it. I expect it will still be 2-3 more weeks before I see it. This isn't a concern to me...but if you sent your shifter in expecting it to have a 3-4 week turn around, I can see this being a problem.

My shifter arrived today, June 16. It looks brand new. I am really happy with the result. Allowing a week for shipping, it took 2 1/2 months. I finally received a call, after another fax and letter to Mr. Gasket customer service, telling me the shifter was done. When I asked why it took so long, I was told there was a backup at the platers.

Bottom line: the shifter rebuild was very good but plan on a long wait to get your shifter back.

I got my shifter back last week. It took right at 3 months. It looks very good...the only thing I will complain about is the fact that they very sloppily cut your initials on each piece of the shifter. If I had known they would do that, I would have probably went a different route. It's not a huge deal, but I would have preferred not to have my initials all over the shifer body. Kinda kills the effect of all the nice work that was done on it.
