I'm curious to know if anyone has had good or bad experience with Jeg's mini starter part number 10020? Here's the link to it:

A friend of a friend has one for sale pretty cheap, but I've never purchased one before and want to make sure I don't waste my money on junk. Any feedback good or bad would be appreciated.

Just my 2 cents here, I personally dont like anything chrome around hi heat areas due to heat retention. On subject of starter,, I would pay a little more and get a Tilton Super starter. They can be repaired. Some of these little other cheapies can't be as they don't always used generic parts that most starter shops use.

I have the crome one less than a year old does not work any more.Long story but now tring to find some place to have it fix problem.Was a good little starter at first but make sure you shim it correctly or it will eat you fly wheel.Been there done that.

did you have to replace your flywheel or did you get away with it (fastfred) i have run into the same issue with my jegs starter, 2 shims in and still not right. How did you have to shim yours to make it right

i am sending back this jegs mini starter, it will not engage the flywheel all the way, checked everything and shimmed every way and jegs determined the starter was faulty, im gonna order the genuine gm performance parts one and be done with it

Make sure ya get the right one. My co-worker had the sb/bb one and I told him it was the wrong one and to get the one I had for his BB. I have a 13:1 BB. and my incle has a 14:1 540. We both have this one
