The logo at the top right corner of every page here shows you www.SS396.com , Ground Up, our site sponsor, they should get a chance for providing things for your resto. :)

I find that different distributors have the edge on different parts.
Some have more electrical parts, some more chassis parts etc.

Quality can also vary widely. I suggest searching on this forum and asking around before you ordera specific part. Someone else's experience can save you a lot of time and money.

Pricing seems to be pretty close among the big name distributors.

All due respect to Ground Up and BelAirBob. I havent heard anything bad about either, except that Ive requested a GU catalog several times and nothing.

Ive been using Rick's for a very long time now (from back when you used to call and actually talked to Rick), and havent had any problems whatsoever. So although I wouldnt be against using others, Rick's just hasnt given me any reason to switch. Theyve always taken care of me. Kind of a loyalty thing, I guess.

If I ever started to have problems with them, I would look to another source. But not gonna switch from them for no real reason.

I use classic industries and have never been disappointed in anything I have received from them. They have a great on-line catalog and you can order on-line or by phone. They also have a 20% off deal going most of the time and the codes are generally posted on this site.

They appear to be the Walmart of the recycling world.

http://www.aamdwstengqst.com/

According to their mission statement they cleanse Chicago and the burbs of old iron and ship it to either South America or the foundries of the far east. They have an order form that includes casting numbers, and claim to be able to acquire old iron frequently. Additionally they sell such useful items as full factory bolt sets, and vintage tin.

I have bought more than 12K dollars from Classic Industries in 1 year and lately they didn’t recognize me some damaged stuff. I received the deluxe inner door panels and wheel moldings damaged.
They just told me to pay again if I wand the goods and offer only 20% off.
I don’t know if I am a good customer but they treat me like a 12 cents customer instead of a 12000 dollars customer.
I will try another supplier for my next resto.

Wow, sorry to hear that about Classic Ind. I too have spend thousands there and have been pretty happy with service. Even went there this year to see the facility and they were packed with people. I think they need to expand and maybe customer service will get back to were it was.
I just this week bought some parts from the site in the upper corner of this page. Good prices and hard to find items. Only thing I didn't like was they gave no price on shipping. Not even an estimate.
I have had better luck with Classic Headquarter parts more then OER. I think all the part distributors pretty much buy from the same places, its just customer service thats different.

I've used Ricks, NPD, Belairbob's, and Classic. Generally pleased with all of them, but preference lies wit BelairBob and Ricks. Both for speed and awesome customer service. NPD is good for me as well because they are local. Saves me shipping....

Mostly used YEARONE for the past 18 years. They are about 45 minutes away which is nice when you need something NOW.

For more regular stuff, I use Rockauto a lot. Very happy with their service, their site & I always seem to have a discount code on the ready.

For the more "regular" (mostly general mechanical) parts, I guess im somewhat "blessed" with a great local parts store guy. He understands that I do resto work, and is an old musclecar/vette guy himself. He'll tell me what parts are junk and what parts are good (not just trying to sell me a part), along with the parts that wont work (as far as being much different from factory appearance) for what I do. Its kinda funny, when I go in the store, the others that work there know I'm usually looking for something "odd", and usually has to be found in the book rather than the computer.

This probably doesnt add to this particular discussion much, other than how valuable a good "regular" parts guy can be.

its good to have a good local parts guy. usually i will stop over at the local parts store but they dont really know anything and basically are just there to get you what you ask for and no advice other than to buy the more expensive stuff. i havent ordered anything from them for my car but summit is a nice mag to just flip through. or their site www.summitracing.com

I'd like to invite you all to take a look at www.BowtieMuscleParts.com (http://www.bowtiemuscleparts.com)
I just started this company and am offering great prices on brake parts and restoration parts. Including Delco Brake Booster, Master Cylinders, and parts from Classic Headquarters featuring Officially Licensed GM Restoration Parts at great prices! Anything you see on the website is in stock ready to ship. I offer a very simple $9.95 flat rate shipping policy (same as Summit Racing) on any size order. Please take a look and let me know what you think....
Thanks!

Classic Industries is a deceptive company, they pick and choose which parts they will give you 20% off on. When you call to order they tell you that the expensive part you want is not eligble for the discount. Very deceptive advertising. Buy from someone else.

Hey Camaro Buds,
I used to use Classic but after seeing how much they charge for shipping, it was out of control. I'm only an hour and halve away, by in LA that could turn into a 3-hour trip each way that's why I have them ship it. I was disappointed with them for several reasons, 1) shipping cost, 2) not notifying a customer when an item is on back order, 3) Quality of the parts have gone down hill. I have complained to them several times and it goes in through one ear and out another. I recently found a new vendor for all my camaro part at the Pomona Auto Swap meet. They’re called F-Body Connections and there Website is www.f-body-connections.com or you can call 951-688-2962 and ask for Elsie (talk about a woman who knows camaros). They get the same items through the same vendors as Classic at the same or cheaper price without the high cost of shipping. Don't get me wrong I'm not getting anything from F-Body for putting there name out, I'm just a average person tried of wasting my hard earn $$$ and getting treated like crap.

Thanks for letting me vent, send me a Pm with you want to talk more about this.

I use 2 local chicago area company's, D & R (ww.drclassic.com) is less than an hour drive. They are as big as Rick's, everything is in stock. At this point, Vrad and Jake know my voice on the phone. Return policy? Once I brought back a conv. top boot after 7 months, opened and beend on the car, the clips were in when I brought it back. I told Jake it didn't fit and I didn't want it, and the vut me a full credit on the spot.

CPU Muscle Car Parts (www.cpucarparts.com) is another good one. Brian, the owner, used to work at D&R as a buyer. He's real good, and their store is a block from where I work. They have a small place, not a lot of stock, but can get anything in a week or 2 and great prices.
