My wifes 69 Camaro has a 350 crate engine (all done before we purchased the car 6 years ago).

There is a feed line and return line to the gas tank. The feed line feeds into the mechanical fuel pump, then up a line to a fuel filter, and then into another line into the carb.

The return line is capped off.

Is it ok to change this around as such:

Remove the existing fuel filter. Add a 3 nipple fuel filter between the gas tank and the fuel pump, thus hooking up the return line to the 3rd nipple (as I would guess is what is supposed to happen)?

What I am concerned about is putting the filter before the mechanical pump versus after the pump (as my other cars are set up). Will this cause any problems with fuel starvation?

Thanks guys. :)

If you do that the pump won't be able to prime, as it will just suck air from inside the tank. Put the 3 nipple fuel filter after the pump and it will work just like GM designed it, or just plug the vent line if your using a holley carb.

Ok, thanks, that is what I was afraid of.

The carb is an edelbrock. Does that have any impact?

Should I just leave the vent line capped? It seems to run fine.
