I have been looking around for a SS Camaro ( last generation) and I found on in Texas. But, the seller has done quite afew mod's to it. And I was wondreing if anyone out there that would know if it would pass CA smog. Here is a list of what he has done:
ASP underdrive pulley($214.99 thunderracing.com)
SLP longtube headers ($899.95 slponline.com)
Magnaflow muffler
T1 cam (221/221 .558 .558 112 lsa)($250.00 mti)
comp cams titanium retainers($272.99 thunderracing.com)
Hardened pushrods($109.99 thunderracing.com)
918 springs($179.99 thunderracing.com)
LS1_edit(dynotex racing)($500.00)
Ported throttle body
85 mm SLP Mass airflow sensor(179.95 SLPonline.com)
Think its would pass smog?

No, at least not the visual. Any longtube headers move the cats back (if he even kept them) which is illegal. Of course removing them is also illegal.
If it still has cats, and if the tune is good it should pass at the tailpipe, but unfortunately they would fail the visual. This assumes they check that stuff which they always do for me.

must be tough in CA! Here, they do not even open the hood. On 96 and newer, they just plug in the computer, odb2 says yea or nay, and off you go, no sniff no nuttin. Older than 96 gets a sniff on a chassis dyno, but they've never opened a hood.

Check the parts and part numbers you have with the web sites and see if they have an EO number, That is a number for an Executive Oderer. An EO number has to be applied for a by a company selling parts that are smog legal in Ca. When you go to smog your car and they do the visual and he come back says sorry you have headers, you show him the EO number on the part (some have tags or part numbers that are visable) and then you show him the EO number tag or form that came from the manufacture of the part. See this web site for an example look at the 1400 series carb. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive_new/mc/carbs_acc/performer.shtml
You can go to the Ca ARB(Air Resourses board) web site and pull up the EO numbers, then pull the pdf on it and print them off before you go to smog it. I suggest cheking the mods with the manufactures web sites to see if they have EO numbers then search for them to make sure they really do exist.

There are no EO numbers for full length headers on that car in California. It forces the cat to move from the stock location, automatically cannot receive an exemption order number as any movement of the cat is illegal.

Hey Jim could you rename this or maybe make a new post with the CA ARB web site info and make it a sticky. I know we can do searches but this is good info I am sure those on the west coast can use. I know when I was living in San Diego that web site was a life saver!!!
