Has anyone here adjusted one to their satisfaction and getting the desired performance as far as kickdown and such? I just got my car running and this is next on the list.

Not on a 700R4 but on my 200-4R, and it shifts firm and down shifts good in drive.

Can you get it to go from overdrive to 1st or 2nd? Did you adjust the cable via the allen key?

If you have an OEM type cable, it should adjust itself. You press the button and pull it out all the way, then floor the gas and the cable will go to the correct spot. The trick with aftermarket stuff is getting it into the right hole in the carb linkage to get the correct movement ratio from idle to WOT.

To elaborate on what Jim has said, you want the TV cable to start to pull when the throttle moves and as the throttle sweeps to WOT you want the TV cable to always keep pulling and reach a full pull when the throttle hit WOT. The hard part is getting the angle so as the throttle goes open the TV doesn't stall or actually return some.

Think of a perfect circle off the throttle shaft and the throttle linkage and TV are both 180degs from each other. If they have a common pull point, like a modern efi with cable linkage or like a Lokar cable setup it's fairly easy.

A Camaro with a throttle rod makes for more of a challenge and a lot of aftermarket TV plates like the Holley don't do the trick as they are also designed to position and hold a throttle cable.

If you get the mount point in the right place both on the throttle and the hold down bracket it's easy to get that 180 positioning on a full circle around the throttle shaft. If the cable bracket is in the wrong place it will cause the circle to be more like an ellipse or egg shaped. You'll never get your pressures right if it ends up this way...

My kit came with everything required to use it with my Holly carb as seen in the attached: http://www.tvmadeez.com/4100_cam/

I was just wondering why there are 2 points of adjustment on it. I did set it up the way you described for WOT. In reading all of the info that came the cable as far as taking pressure readings in all shifter positions park, reverse, neutral, etc. and such I thought I was missing something. I guess with a fresh motor I really do not want to start getting on it to hard till I am sure the motor is broken in. It appears to be shifting great nice and firm I guess I will wait a while till I try getting it to kick down from 4th to 1st and such.

Thanks for the info.

Steve - IMO you got the best of the best as far as setting up the TV on your car. I have the orig version of the TV made ez and it's the next best...

It can actually be adjusted anywhere between the two points to change the shifting characteristics. You'll need to reset the cable each time you make a change with the allen screw.
