Im needing to replace the filler panel at the rear window to trunk because of rust at the corners.All the repo parts iv'e looked at stops at the edge of the rear window lip.Unless im wrong the stock piece runs down into the package tray area,and includes the piece that the interior metal corner trim pieces attach to,Its looks like a lot of cutting and welding on this repo piece if thats the case.Any Info would be appreicated.

I believe you are correct about the repro panels. I got a nice one from Rick's. Cost a bit more but it fit great. I did not have any problems installing it. I had a LOT of welding all over the car so it was not a big deal.

Yes, why they don't have the entire piece, I don't know..The same piece for "A" bodies have that part, but Camaro pieces don't.

What I do is locate all the spot welds between the panel and the inside piece, then I circle all the welds with a felt tip marker, then, draw a line fron left to right in the center. Then, using a cut-off wheel on a die grinder, cut through the line from left to right. Then, with the grinder, grind the half way through the sopt welds, or any spot weld that is on the rear(piece to be removed) of the line just cut. This way, the inner piece never gets removed. I then butt the new panel to the old inner piece after trimming it to fit. You also don't have to worry about leaving too big of agap, as there is the re-enforcement below.

They now make repro panels with and without the area that extends under the rear window into the passenger compartment.
