View Full Version : x77 1969 ???? onewickedcamaro Jun 14th, 06, 08:12 PM A friend is selling a 1969 x77 car. I have not seen it but is it better than the 1969 z-28 x33 cars. What did the x77 cars have as far as options ..engine.. etc.. Thanks BelAirBob Jun 14th, 06, 08:19 PM X77 was a Z/28 without style trim. X33 was a Z/28 that included style trim. Style trim was chrome wheel lip moldings, bright drip raills, tailight bezels and "shark gill moldings", bright pedal moldings, and probabaly something else I'm forgetting. Also X33 could have been a Rally Sport. No offense to the X77 car, cause I'm sure she's nice, but the RS Z is much more valuable than the X77 all things being equal. Both had the 302 /290 Hp engine, 4 speed Muncie trans and 12 bolt rear. camaromaniac Jun 14th, 06, 08:49 PM To continue with Bob's notes, with the X77 being the base model Z28, I also thought most, if not all X77's did not come with the floor consol & gauge package. Thus, you would have a fuel gauge in the dash panel across from the speedo. And, a lot of X77's did not come with power steering. Of course, all of these "style trim" options can now be added from the aftermarket suppliers. What is likely more important today (considering even an X77, is a highly sought after collector car) is whether or not the drivetrain is numbers matching. Some guys have replaced their blown 302's with another 302 coming from a different Z28, and that's great too. The important thing is to KNOW what you are getting so you pay fair market value as opposed to some trumped up value for something that is counterfit. Then, whether it has any rust or how much rust is also likely more important than whether it's an X77 or an X33. Check it out, post drivetrain numbers, VIN & Cowl tag numbers and pictures and the guys here on TC will check it out for you. Charlie ps: some of my Z28 info may be incorrectly stated and subject to correction by one of the experts on this site. x77-69z28 Jun 15th, 06, 07:38 AM i own a burnished brown x-77 car. any option could have been added to the camaro. my car is a low option car, but does have the console and guages and power steering. the x-77 was the plain jane, but could be optioned any way you wanted. 69cama Jun 15th, 06, 08:36 AM X77 means base Z28. No style trim or RS. It has nothing to do with the interior or options such as power steering BelAirBob Jun 15th, 06, 08:44 AM That is correct! My X33D80 is a center fuel gauge car with FLAT hood, no console or console gauges, and NO power steering!- Only features are the 8K tach and front and rear spoilers with black std interior. These options were mandatory on late production Z/28s- they all had the tach and D80. It does still have the style trim package. I suppose the original owner must have wanted a fast, no frills Z. |
