i bought a 69 ss 396 car several years ago everything is correct with 43,000 miles. it is a two owner car, i spoke to both owners and got all the history on the car. it did have a factory replacment long block put in it in 69 under gm warrenty. how does this effect the value of the car.

Of course the original engine is better, but a factory replacement block is almost as good. I could be biased because my car also has a warrenty replacement block. It is a 67 350 SS/RS and the engine was replaced under warrenty in 1968 by the original owner.

I bought it last year as a numbers matching car, everything was original except for the CE block. I am not sure how much more I would have paid if it had the original block. Probably not much because it was pretty pricey. The value just depends on the market and with these cars that just seems to go up and up.

I'd get notarized letters from both owners stating that the block was replaced under warranty. That will go a long way to keeping the value difference between original engine car and warranty engine car very low.
