I posted a question last week about the studs for mounting the gas tank being too long for even a deep well socket, and wanting some hints on how to get it out. I got replies varying from making a tool to cutting off the studs.
For the next person running into this problem, here's a tip: use a 9/16" distributor wrench to start the nuts until they are close enough to put a deep well on them. Worked like a charm!
