Can anyone tell me what the 20 guage dark green wire that goes in the connector on the back of the dash instrument panel is for (68 Camaro)? Mine was cut and I'm wondering if I need to fix it. I have a wiring diagram, but it doesn't specifiy what each wire is for.

Mike, the dark green wire is for the temperature light on the dash for cars without gauges.

Thanks guys. I don't think my temp. sensor is hooked up on my engine either, that's probably why they cut the wire in the dash.

I don't have a 68 schematic, but in later yrs the temp light has 3 wires, a 20g pink and 2 20g DG's. Pink is power, 1 DG goes to the temp sending unit, the other goes to IGN switch. The DG going to IGN switch grounds the temp light so the light lights while cranking the engine. This is just a bulb check feature. Hope this helps.
