View Full Version : New 69 Camaro owner
BoxCamaro Jun 18th, 06, 10:28 PM Hi all!
New guy here...name is Charlie..just bought a 69 tonight, most of it is in a box hence the name. I work at a classic car resto shop in Edmonton, retired Cdn Military mechanic, married..2 kids, one moved out already one to go ;)..and two cats, enough about me. I own a couple of Nova's right now ( selling soon )...and will be picking up the Camaro tomorrow, even missing the Oilers stomp Carolina for the cup to get it :). It's a 350 car auto 10 bolt, original hugger orange with white vinyl roof...all matching #s for now, I've got a 69 coded M21 Muncie and multileaf 12 bolt sitting in my 74 Nova that will be coming out for the Camaro. I really know nothing of the Camaros as I'm a Nova guy but they are close cousins and I'll be able to use some of my parts on the shelf for it. I'll get the numbers off of it when I get home, it's a console bucket car, looks like A/C vents in the kick panels? I'll throw some pics up probably on Wednesday...they won't be pretty but I've seen worse come back to life.
Anyways I'll be here for awhile...trying to contribute where I can but most likely asking lots of questions. Go OIL!!!

Everett#2390 Jun 19th, 06, 05:46 AM Welcome Charlie!
Kick panel vents are vents to the outside from the cowl area.
Nova's are a cousin to the Camaro, just a bigger back seat.
Yeah, we can answer most any question offered, even world peace, just tell the rednecks bin Laden killed Earnhardt, and he'll be dead tomorrow.

Thanks Frank, my wife actually said to me while she was helping me bolt down the winch that "I'd love to come but the game is on" then it hit me...crap...but I told him I would be there tonight so I'll have the radio cranked up while loading parts. I hope to be home for the end of the 3rd.
Glad to be here, I feel welcome and look forward to getting this car back together, I feel most people might consider this car too far gone but I can't afford one that's already together :).
Later! ( Go Oil ! )

BoxCamaro Jun 21st, 06, 09:52 PM Sorry guys, drove 240 miles round trip with a car trailer and bank draft to come home empty. I failed to ask the right questions I spoze, assumed the cowl tag would be on the car ..nope, gone. I did ask if the rear frame rails were solid, he said yes and they were, albeit twisted and split at the bend. I was able to overlook the rotten 1/4's and rockers, fenders but kinda let down with the cowl tag and frame rails. The owner wasn't able to meet me although we had an appt, left his inlaw to assist which was of no help as he didn't know what a cowl tag was....or where the tranny was or sure of anything, didn't leave me with a warm fuzzy. It was a no go for me and my hard earned $$$. I'll keep looking! Thanks again for the welcome.
zuma Jun 21st, 06, 10:12 PM Sorry to here, Charlie. At least you didn't get stuck with a slug.(no cowl tag was a good indicator)..As you know there are still some out there for the right price...keep looking, you'll find one...good luck...Mike :D
