The 1107355 was used from 1964 through 1969 (maybe longer, but my book only goes to 69) and is a Pontiac application. Yours was built October 23rd, 1968.

If it's been commercially rebuilt, the stamped number is most likely meaningless - commercial rebuilders recondition and mix-and-match the common parts for specific applications, and the generic stamped armature case could end up on any one of hundreds of final assemblies. Some of the commercial rebuilders in this area now grind off the numbers on starter armature cases and alternator cases as part of the process to eliminate inventory confusion.
