Why would you say this?

Sure lots of cars become something they are not, but not every buyer is a scammer or lowlife. You have no idea who is intending to buy the car or what will become of it. I'm not the seller or high bidder, but I've sold lots of cars over the years and haven't misrepresented any of them. I'm just sick of hearing this over and over again from someone everytime somebody posts a rare/desirable/project/whatever car on here for us to see. It's a shame we can't focus on the good things like ...

"Wow, another Pace Car found!" or "Hey, the RS wiper motor & solenoid are still there."

We are supposed to be enthusiasts, not witch-hunters. We are a team (Team Camaro) and we should act accordingly.

Just my opinion ... nothing personal al8apexer.

Good luck to whoever buys the car.

with cars fetching 6 figures these days, and this car is already bid up to $10K, odds are it will end up a 'matching numbers' car sadly enough.

Does it mean it will? No. But the temptation is very high

Agreed, however, It's just a shame that we can't have a more positive attitude towards a good find, and just make less assumptions and conclusions. That's all.

I hear ya.

I'm as much as optimist as the next guy, but reality and money are pretty powerful these days

At 1000 dollars thats a good find, at 10K that's just insanity. There isn't one uesable panel left on the car (note that the rear quarters don't even have side marker holes, or holes fore the quarter panel gills so there is already some repro sheetmetal on the car).

I went to look at a 260Z this weekend for 500 bucks. The car ran, but the interior was moldy, the floorboards were punky, the firewall had a huge rust hole in it under the battery tray and it had been the home to several large rodent familys in the past. The outer body was in surprisingly good shape and most of it was there (alot more than this PC has) but I must be getting older because I walked away without buying it (although I still think about buying it).

Mark,

You have a sharp eye! I didn't notice the lack of holes, and now looking at the car, I'm sure they were 1/4 skins put on. Most likely an early 90's stamping probably from Tabco. They are the only panel stamper I know (made in USA believe it or not!) that didn't cut the marker lights or the bumper support hole in their metal.

so sorry to be a realist, I just call em like I see em

look at this 69 convertible:

that one will be an all original numbers matching car too with the help of a repro body
